Support On End-Of-Life Visual C++ 2005 Library Usage In WebCenter Content Installation On Windows Operating Systems
(Doc ID 2326312.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 01, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Content – Version 12.2.1.2.0 and later
Generic Windows

Symptoms

When installing Oracle WebCenter Content (WCC) and/or Inbound Refinery(IBR) on Windows Operating Systems, the installation documentation states that the Visual C++ libraries included in Microsoft’s Visual C++ Redistributable Packages namely – Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 are required.

However, the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package is unsupported by Microsoft since April 12th, 2016.

What is the statement of direction from Oracle on how and when the use of the End Of Life (EOL) Visual C++ 2005 library will be addressed?
